Wilbert Donald Sackman Jerseyville - Wilbert D. Sackman, 94, passed away at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 22, 2024 at his home in Jerseyville. Wilbert Donald Sackman was born on May 26, 1930 in Saint Louis, Missouri to Albert and Clara (Fiedler) Sackman. He married Barbara Edwards at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Jerseyville, Illinois on September 5, 1955. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Sackman and a son and daughter in-law, Mark and Dina Sackman, all of Jerseyville. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as two brothers, Fred and Alfred Sackman. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1955. He is designated an Atomic Veteran, having witnessed the Operation Ivy test of the hydrogen bomb in the Marshall Islands in 1952 while serving aboard the aircraft carrier USS RENDOVA. He graduated from Ranken Technical School in Saint Louis, Missouri in 1957. He was the owner-operator of Sackman Plumbing and Heating from 1963 to 1980. His son, Mark, gr
